Our History
Fencing has always been an important element of WL West’s business and in 2005 WL West Timber purchased PRO Fencing, a well-established and respected fencing company in the South East. WL West retained the trading name of PRO Fencing and the company moved from a small yard in Ash to a new location in Farnham.
PRO Fencing supplies fencing products to independent fencers and homeowners, but our major focus is the supply and installation of fencing and gates to housing developers, the public sector and commercial enterprises.
Over the past two decades, the business has gone from strength to strength, with a significant increase in company size and turnover. In order to allow the business room to grow and to enable us to offer an even better customer experience, PRO Fencing moved on 1 September 2025. We joined our parent company, WL West Timber, at their large headquarters in Selham (between Petworth and Midhurst) and are excited about this new chapter!

WL West Timber are a family-owned sawmill and timber merchant in West Sussex, with over 150 years’ industry experience.
As one of the UK’s largest hardwood timber specialists and machinists, WL West proudly work with the trade, construction, heritage and restoration sectors, as well as homeowners throughout the country.
The company’s timber heritage stretches back to 1865. Whether it’s supplying structural beams for garden rooms, custom cladding for public buildings, replica mouldings for restoration projects, bespoke signage or sawn timber for trade - timber is what WL West do.

Sawn Timber
From British timber to European and exotic timbers, WL West Timber are specialists in sustainably-sourced, certified sawn timber and offer a cut-to-size service.

Beams & Structures
Sawn from green (fresh-sawn) or air-dried European Oak logs, WL West Timber offers beam components, brace cutting and jowl post cutting. Homegrown Douglas Fir is also available for certain applications.

Cladding
Available in 4 different species and a range of cladding profiles, WL West Timber’s wide range of cladding allows you to work within your budget to find the perfect match for the style of your property.

Decking
WL West Timber offers air-dried 1-2 Grade European Oak decking (treated or untreated) with other species available upon request.

Bespoke Gates
WL West Timber, can source a range of hardwoods to make customised timber gates. Gates can be engraved with your property name or information of your choice.

All WL West Timber pergolas are constructed in carefully selected green European oak. All components of our bespoke oak pergolas are crafted from oak, unlike competitors who use softwood components throughout.
