WOODTURNING COURSES
BEGINNERS TURNING COURSE
(or those with jaded skills!)

We are please to be able to offer this beginners course to be tutored by George Karon.
Duration: 2 days - This course will be held during the working week, and will run from 8.30am to 5.00pm.
Detail: George is a member of the Register of Professional Turners and has a wealth of experience, having taught in several local renowned colleges. He is passionate that the student gets the most out of the course, so the days will be full and varied.
The aims are to cover the basics of safe and fun woodturning in a logical and progressive manner. It will include:
- Health & Safety
- Explanation of the Lathe
- Tool care and sharpening
- Cutting techniques
- Finishing

Course terms & conditions
Definitions
Within these terms and conditions the following definitions apply:
‘Company’ shall mean W.L.West & Sons Ltd, Selham Petworth, GU28 0PJ
‘Customer or student’ shall mean the person attending the course whether or not the course is paid for.
Course Fees
A non-refundable deposit of £50 is payable upon course booking. The balance is payable not less than 30 calendar days before the course date. Bookings made for courses within the 30 day period must be paid in full at the time of booking.
Course fees will include a light lunch. The company cannot be held responsible for the content of refreshments supplied. Alternative requirements must be notified to the company at least 7 days prior to the course date, i.e. Vegetarian etc.
Postponement
The company reserves the right to postpone a course if the numbers of students is insufficient or the tutor becomes unavailable. Alternative tutors may be used. The company reserves the right to either refund the course fee or to re-book the student on an alternative date.
Students under the age of 16
Students under the age of 16 must have the permission of their parent/guardian before booking. The company reserves the right to check age by way of some form of identification which includes the age, if the form is not signed by a parent/guardian and we suspect that the student is under the age of 16. Parent or Guardian must be present during the course.
Personal Belongings
The company does not accept responsibility for any vehicle parked on the company’s property. The company does not accept responsibility for any personal belongings brought onto company premises, students must be responsible for their own property.
Timber used for course
Timber used for the course will be included in the price of the course, but the species will be at the discretion of the company. Specific species can be purchased for use on the course. The tutor will have the final decision as to the suitability of the species for the course.
